The
Brumby Government’s $10.5 billion plan to transform our transport
network is the biggest single investment in the transport system
ever undertaken by a Victorian Government. It includes:
- Train
and tram services extended on Friday and Saturday nights up to
1.30am, and extra staff to improve security late at
night.
- 750km
of bike paths since 1999 and the biggest commitment to bicycle
paths in the State’s history - $71.8m over the coming 10
years.
- $5
million committed to the East-West Needs Assessment as part of the
Government’s
Meeting Our Transport Challenges plan.
Local
improvements include:
- A
$38.5m commitment for a major upgrade of North Melbourne Station
including a new station entrance, new concourse on the city end of
the station, and additional passenger safety measures.
- Works
completed on South Kensington Station as part of the Station
Refurbishment Program.
