The
Brumby Government invests more in aged care than any other
state.
The
Government’s aged care programme includes:
- Operating 194 state
public sector residential aged care facilities across
Victoria;
- Funding the Home and
Community Care (HACC) Programme;
- Providing services and
programmes for senior Victorians like the Seniors Card and the
annual Seniors Festival; and
- Improving and
integrating health and community care services for older
Victorians
Other
initiatives include:
- Free
public transport travel for seniors on Sunday.
- 18,255
Personal Alert pendants for seniors provided that, if pressed,
trigger a phone call from the Response Center to nominated family
or friends, or an ambulance.
- Piloting a program to
give not for profit aged care providers access to surplus
government land for additional high care residential aged care beds
that has already resulted in plans for 90 place centers in Preston
and Coburg.
- $44m
over four years to expand Victorian Home and Community Care,
providing in-home support services.
